The Networked Neighbourhood
intro

carfreelondon was a competition run by the architecture foundation in the autumn of 1998.

We as group of digital media professionals got together to provide a solution for reducing car-traffic in central london to near zero by the year 2020. Our approach was built on our expertise and extrapolating from current developments in new media.

Our competition entry was successful in winning through to the final 5 solutions to be exhibited in the OXO Tower, London in May1999, and was featured in leader articles in the Independent newspaper, The Economist and Blueprint; and featured on TV.

We are now looking for commercial and political backing to investigate the ideas we came up with. If you can help, then contact us.

Presented here are the illustrations we exhibited to explain our solution.
