"geocaching + warchalking = ???"Posted by matt at July 02, 2002 11:47 PM
i could see this develop into warchalking type clues to 'treasure' nearby or at least telling you the coordinates to the next clue.
or how bout this, youve found a symbol, connect and login to geocaching.com to get info about the spot youre on (plus other comments from before)-a blog could appear just on that spot with stories and pictures: talk about proto-augmented reality!

well, you could use a custom specific DNS server that resolved names like www.22345.14650.gps into an IP, for example

maybe you could upload the coordinates (longitude/latitude) to a server that would update a map so that it shows up. Say it would be a Java map program. Loading in a new coordinate file wouldn't be too difficult, would it? Not a java applet, program. Then, make each node added to the map file a link to a status/comment report from the latest x many users.
